About Fairfield: Our History
The in-vessel Vertical Composting Units technology process has enabled the waste management system to be located on an area of the market with limited space.
This installation has reduced the environmental burden of transporting unprocessed material to other sites. This whole revolutionary system challenges individuals and organisations to re-evaluate their views on waste material and the environment.
Fairfield Materials Management is pioneering compost production as a sustainable waste management system in Manchester. Fairfield is producing a guide for others; this ‘blue print’ will ensure the replication of this model throughout the UK
Fairfield has achieved PAS100 accreditation for its compost, which is sold to a variety of end users, from the Forestry Commission for use in land restoration through to allotment holders for their vegetable patches.
Fairfield Composting
Fairfield Composting has worked tirelessly to promote and encourage community and home composting within Manchester and Oldham since 1996.
Fairfield Composting has moved on to establish Manchester’s first compost and organic growing training centre. The centre will work with school groups, allotment societies, community groups and Social Services.
